The Clevelander Hotel
In the early 1980’s, The Clevelander Hotel was one of the first of the Art Deco hotels along Ocean Drive to be restored. In the mid-1980’s, the hotel appeared in many episodes of Miami Vice, and soon became the quintessential South Beach experience. Zyscovich brought the project from its dated 1980’s design into the 21st Century without destroying the original flavor of the Art Deco design of the 1930’s. The firm provided interior design services for the lobby lounge, sports bar, upstairs lounge, pool deck, sun decks, and guest rooms to appeal to the diverse, loyal and fun-loving clientele, as well as to the always evolving South Beach tourist. The design was contemporary, with elements of surprise to keep the guests intrigued, through sound, color, texture and lighting. The spaces created a different level of experience for day visitors as well as those checking in for an extended stay.
