North Miami Public Library
The North Miami Public Library’s mission is to serve the entirety of North Miami’s diverse community through the provision of appropriate collections, technology, and services in an atmosphere that is comfortable, relaxing, nurturing, and accessible. In keeping with this mission, the library is embarking on a renovation project that will enhance services and provide better access to technology. The scope of work included the interior renovation and remodeling of the existing building. The Lobby/Exhibition Area, Waiting Area, Fiction/Non-Fiction, Young Adult, and Children’s Stacks and Reading Areas, as well as the Technology Hub, Reference and Check-out Area, and the Multi-Purpose Room, all received new partitions, ceiling grids and tiles, carpet, ceramic tile, wall finishes, and furnishings. The existing Staff Lounge was converted into a new café that serves snacks and beverages to the public. The café is connected to the renovated plaza via a new ADA compliant walkway. The existing restrooms were replaced with two new unisex ADA Compliant restrooms. All existing mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems remained and were adjusted as required to maintain code requirements and fire ratings. The scope of work did not include any changes to the existing building envelope or roof.
